MARAC IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor)
Full time - SCP 24-28: £20,858 - £23,708
This is a temporary fixed term contract for up to 1 year from 1st August 2012 to cover the maternity leave of the current post-holder.
The post holder will work alongside the police within the Public Protection Unit to provide proactive independent support and information about the range and suitability of options available to victims of domestic violence and abuse to improve their safety and that of their children. The post-holder will work with those in Exeter, who have been identified as being at high risk of experiencing further abuse and who have been referred to MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) so that a risk management plan can be put in place.
Candidates must have a thorough understanding of domestic violence dynamics and experience of crisis work and safety planning with domestic abuse victims. They must also have a good working knowledge of criminal and civil justice systems and practice in relation to domestic violence and understand the fundamentals of risk assessment and risk management.
