Stop Abuse for Everyone depends upon the good will and support of a wider community to succeed in their work. Volunteers offer a valuable contribution to our organisation. Donations of skills and time are warmly welcomed.
As a new and challenging year approaches SAFE is seeking volunteers with special skills to join our team
Are you a techie?
SAFE needs someone with computer skills to guide us and to improve and make the most of our online presence and maximize how these facilities could work for us.
Are you familiar with all types of social media?
Can you load docs onto a website?
If so, we would be really pleased to hear from you and to have your skills and some of your time. Please ring Chris Collier on 01392 215193
Are you media / PR savvy?
SAFE is looking for someone who understands how the media works and is able to help us use it to the charity's advantage.
We have a low public profile and we would like to increase our engagement with the media to raise understanding of domestic violence and abuse and the work we do.
If so, we would be really pleased to hear from you and to have your skills and some of your time. Please ring Chris Collier on 01392 215193
Trustees
The Board of SAFE is keen to recruit new trustees. We offer you all the support that you need to make a real contribution to our work. We are particularly keen on having members who have knowledge and experience of some of the following:-
Strategic planning and services development, financial management, funding applications, PR social media, HR issues, recruitment, policy and development and review, Health & Safety, risk management and Safeguarding children and young people.
Being one of our trustees can be enormously worthwhile:-
- You are at the centre of the action, helping to decide things which matter
- You can put your skills and experience to good use, to benefit your community and to provide better services for people who need them
- You can learn new skills and gain confidence in a range of areas possibly different from your previous experience
- You will learn about domestic violence and abuse and how it effects all who experience this crime
If you are interested in helping us please contact SAFE for more information by ringing 01392 456092 or email info@safe-services.org.uk
For some volunteer posts there is a recruitment procedure and an application form and all volunteers are subject to enhanced CRB checks.
Our Volunteering Policy stresses that SAFE:-
- does not aim to introduce volunteers to replace paid workers
- will ensure that volunteers are properly integrated into the organisational structure and that mechanisms are in place for them to contribute to the work of SAFE.
- expects that workers at all levels will work positively with volunteers and where appropriate, will actively seek to involve them in their work.
- recognises that volunteers require satisfying work and personal development and will seek to help volunteers meet these needs, as well as providing the training for them to do their work effectively.
- Expenses will be paid.
In this demanding area of work and because of the sensitivity and risks associated with violence and abuse we do not currently employ volunteers in direct work with our service users.
